Alejandra Botero - E-RYT 200 Yoga Alliance, Founder of Yoga Nook
Alejandra is a Colombian native who’s roots are anchored in the oral traditions of her culture and people. For several years she lived in the mountains of La Calera, in Bogotá, Colombia where she found a true connection with nature, life and healing. While living in Colombia she developed a deep appreciation for her indigenous roots as well as a deep sense of respect for the mystical way of life of her ancestors. She had the valuable opportunity to attend conferences and workshops through Universidad Nacional on Indigenous thought. Her discourse is organically rooted in the direct connection with one’s divine nature and innate capacity for self awakening.

Alejandra was fortunate to find yoga at a young age through meditation and philosophy. She began to develop her practice and years after she became certified and introduced yoga to her school age students. Alejandra maintains a daily meditation practice and regularly attends silent retreats that support her wellbeing and journey in life. She believes that everyone’s path into yoga is unique but can be shared as a way to recognize our common humanity. Holding the space for her students to explore and experience the unfolding of their personal practice is the most gratifying aspect of teaching.

She believes self study is an essential aspect of every yoga practitioner; therefore; she continues to train and learn from Master Teachers such as Manju Jois, David Swenson, Tim Miller, Rod Stryker, Tara Brach among others. She is founder of Yoga Nook where she teaches and directs a 200 hr yoga and meditation teacher training program. Alejandra also holds a BA in Language and Humanities and loves to read, write, and laugh with family and friends. She continues to learn and grow from her peers and students.

Bonnye Jean Randolph – Chef BJ
Chef BJ was raised in a home where her love and curiosity for food was titillated. Along with 5 foster siblings, Bonnye’s food menu consisted largely of the traditional ‘soul food’ offerings. Bread was baked daily; all cakes and pies were done from scratch; peas were shelled; corn was husked; string beans were snapped; fresh fish was cleaned; sausage was stuffed and cured meat was readily available.

At the age of 16, Bonnye was moved to another foster home. This family was of Jamaican heritage who opened Bonnye’s palate to a whole new world of cooking techniques and seasonings. The flavors and spices and the cooking techniques awakened her curiosity to try other cuisines.

In 2008, Bonnye enrolled in several noncredit adult education classes at Mercer County Community College. A chef who led several of these classes suggested she enroll in the degree program. After graduating with honors in 2012 with a double degree in both Professional Baking and Professional Chef. Bonnye was the recipient of several merit scholarships while at MCCC. She was also inducted into the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society Bonnye worked as a teaching assistant at the college for a number of years.

During her tenure at MCCC, BJ’s Sweets n’ Eats was born. BJ’s Sweets n’ Eats offers a plethora of culinary items from baking to signature drinks. When asked to describe her food offerings, Bonnye’s response if “world food” with Jamaican and Soul Food leanings.

Bonnye is a proponent of clean eating with vegetarian leanings. Always open to new foods, Bonnye’s motto is “Open Your Mind to New Culinary Eperiences; Your Palate Will Thank You”.
